Terms & Conditions

Please read these terms and conditions carefully before participating in the NIPOST National Stamp & Unity Day Competition.

Important Notice

By submitting your design to this competition, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not participate in the competition.

1. Competition Overview

1.1 Competition Purpose

The NIPOST National Stamp & Unity Day Competition ("Competition") is organized by the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) to celebrate Nigeria's Renewed Hope Agenda through creative stamp and postcard designs that promote national unity and cultural heritage.

1.2 Competition Period

The Competition runs from August 1, 2025, to August 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM West Africa Time (WAT). Winners will be announced on October 1, 2025, during Nigeria's Independence Day celebration.

1.3 Organizer

This Competition is organized by the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), a federal government agency under the Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

2. Eligibility Requirements

2.1 Age and Citizenship

Participants must be Nigerian citizens aged 15 years or older as of the competition start date. Proof of age and citizenship may be required for verification.

2.2 Educational Affiliation

Participants must be currently enrolled in or affiliated with: Senior Secondary Schools (SSS), Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, Vocational Schools, Art & Culture Schools, or be practicing independent artists with verifiable credentials.

2.3 Exclusions

NIPOST employees, their immediate family members, competition judges, and their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.

3. Submission Requirements

3.1 Original Work

All submissions must be original work created by the participant. Use of copyrighted material, plagiarized content, or work created by others is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification.

3.2 Technical Specifications

Each submission must include: (a) A preview image in JPG or PNG format, maximum 20MB; (b) A vector file in AI, SVG, or PDF format, maximum 20MB; (c) A detailed design description explaining the concept and cultural significance.

3.3 Content Guidelines

Designs must be culturally appropriate, suitable for all audiences, and reflect positive aspects of Nigerian culture and the Renewed Hope Agenda. Offensive, discriminatory, or politically divisive content is prohibited.

4. Intellectual Property Rights

4.1 Participant Rights

Participants retain ownership of their original design concepts and artistic expression. However, by submitting to the Competition, participants grant NIPOST certain usage rights as outlined below.

4.2 NIPOST Usage Rights

Participants grant NIPOST a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to: (a) Use winning designs for official stamp and postcard production; (b) Display submissions for promotional and educational purposes; (c) Modify designs as necessary for production requirements while maintaining artistic integrity.

4.3 Attribution

NIPOST will provide appropriate credit to designers on produced stamps and related materials. Designers may use their winning status and produced stamps in their professional portfolios.

5. Judging and Selection

5.1 Judging Panel

Submissions will be evaluated by a panel of qualified judges including graphic designers, art historians, cultural experts, and NIPOST officials. Judge identities and qualifications will be published on the competition website.

5.2 Evaluation Criteria

Designs will be judged based on: Creativity and originality (25%), Technical execution and quality (25%), Cultural relevance and authenticity (25%), Adherence to theme and requirements (25%).

5.3 Final Decision

All judging decisions are final and binding. NIPOST reserves the right to disqualify any submission that violates these terms or competition guidelines.

6. Prizes and Recognition

6.1 Prize Structure

Total prize pool exceeds ₦5 million, distributed across categories and regions. Specific prize amounts and distribution will be announced before the judging period. Prizes include cash awards, certificates, and recognition opportunities.

6.2 Tax Obligations

Winners are responsible for any applicable taxes on prize money according to Nigerian tax laws. NIPOST will provide necessary documentation for tax purposes.

6.3 Prize Claim

Winners must claim prizes within 90 days of announcement. Unclaimed prizes may be forfeited. Valid identification and verification of eligibility are required for prize collection.

7. Privacy and Data Protection

7.1 Data Collection

NIPOST collects personal information necessary for competition administration, including name, email, phone number, educational affiliation, and location data. This information is used solely for competition purposes.

7.2 Data Security

NIPOST implements appropriate security measures to protect participant data. Personal information will not be shared with third parties except as required for competition administration or legal compliance.

7.3 Communication

By participating, you consent to receive competition-related communications via email and SMS. Participants may opt out of non-essential communications while remaining eligible for the competition.

8. Liability and Disclaimers

8.1 Limitation of Liability

NIPOST's liability is limited to the value of prizes awarded. NIPOST is not responsible for technical failures, lost submissions, or other issues beyond reasonable control that may affect participation.

8.2 Force Majeure

NIPOST reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the competition due to circumstances beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, government actions, or technical failures.

8.3 Participant Responsibility

Participants are responsible for ensuring their submissions comply with all requirements and for maintaining backup copies of their work. NIPOST is not liable for lost or corrupted files.

9. General Provisions

9.1 Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes will be resolved in Nigerian courts with jurisdiction in Lagos State.

9.2 Modifications

NIPOST reserves the right to modify these terms with reasonable notice. Significant changes will be communicated to registered participants via email and posted on the competition website.

9.3 Severability

If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
